The Model 360 Flame Photometer is a LOW COST, single channel, five element, analogue output and digital display Flame Photometer. It has inherited a great deal from our well respected, higher priced models. The Model 360 Flame Photometer's mixing chamber, burner stem and burner head are taken from our world renowned Model 410 Flame Photometer. Automatic flame optimisation comes from our Dual Channel Flame Photometer Model 420 series of instruments. Put simply, the Model 360 Flame Photometer is a new product built with tried and tested components where it really matters. It has the best limits of detection available from a low cost instrument and precision comparable to higher cost instruments. The five element filter stick is easy to remove for cleaning and filter replacement. The mixing chamber, burner head and burner stem come apart for cleaning with no tools required. Electronics and pneumatics come in separate "pods" and both are easily removed from the main instrument chassis; offering a potentially huge saving on shipping costs if a return to base repair or replacement becomes necessary. The appropriate filter for the element to be analysed is selected using the filter stick and indicated by LEDs on the front panel, which also displays flame status by LED. A display "hold" button allows readings to be captured until recorded - useful if you are unexpectedly called away. For ease of operation, the air regulator is accessible and pressure gauge visible at the front. A large sample work area is also provided in a spill containment tray which is easy to remove and clean. The instrument is supplied ready for use following installation of the chimney. Connection to the mains power supply is easy; each unit is supplied with a universal switch mode power supply with its own multi-plug adapter kit; no need to worry about voltage selection or making up power cords. MODEL 360 CLINICAL FLAME PHOTOMETERModel 360 Clinical Flame Photometer, Part Number 360 00 209 (Only available with a Propane/Butane Gas Control unit) The Clinical Model 360 Flame Photometer offers a "linearised" response when the Sodium filter is selected; in keeping with expectations of Clinical Flame Photometers. A few operational conditions have to be observed if the instrument is to deliver results within the specification. Measuring CalciumThe Model 360 has a Calcium filter as standard. It must be noted however that in a propane/air flame there is insufficient energy to break calcium phosphate bonds which may occur within samples. In these samples a pre-treatment protocol must be used. We have a method that can be viewed here: Method F-003M Calcium in Biological Fluids. With other Calcium samples chelation with EDTA or extraction with Mehling's 3 solution may be indicated. You should also be aware of interference with Calcium determinations if Sodium is present in your samples. SPECIFICATIONThe detector response in the Clinical 360 is "linearized" when the Sodium filter is selected; as is the expectation for a Clinical Flame Photometer. The specification assumes samples are diluted with de-ionized water as indicated.
Note: The above is correct for use with Propane or Butane. Results obtained from 20 replicates of the same sample, aspirating sample for 20 seconds, then water for 10 seconds. To achieve the stated specification the flame must be alight for a minimum of 30 minutes, with diluent being aspirated. (For a brand new, newly installed unit, that stabilisation is highly likely to be greater than 30 minutes). Note: For Li determinations; blank and standard solutions must contain similar levels of Na, K and Ca to those present in physiological samples.
