Flame Photometer Accessories
All Flame Photometers need a source of fuel gas and a clean, dry, pulse free air supply.
The fuel and air feed the flame within the instrument, the stability of which is important to instrument performance and therefore there are certain minimum standards acceptable for control of those two supplies.
In addition, the air supply is crucial to instrument performance in another way; it is air flow through the instrument's atomiser that determines the uptake rate and consistency of delivery of blank, calibrators and samples into the Flame Photometer.
For optimal performance, derived from both flame stability and smoothness and consistency of sample aspiration, Sherwood Scientific prefer that each Flame Photometer is connected to its own dedicated Air Compressor and that the Air Compressor be external to the instrument.
Propane, Butane or LPG from a cylinder source are the preferred fuels. Natural gas may be used with the appropriate Model 360 Flame Photometer (360 00 009) or with the Model 410 Flame Photometer if a Natural Gas Regulator kit (410 19 002) is purchased and fitted.
Compressors:
We have two specially designed Air Compressors available for use with Sherwood Scientifics Flame Photometers; the Model 851 and the Model 855. The Model 855 Air Compressor has a water cooled trap for operation in humid atmospheres. Both compressors provide a dedicated, clean, dry air supply which is vital to achieve stable flame conditions and constant sample delivery; essential for ensuring good precision of results. The correct part number has to be specified when ordering an Air Compressor to ensure compatibility with local electrical operating voltages.
The following Air Compressors are recommended for use with all Sherwood Scientific's Flame Photometer range i.e. the Model 360, Model 410, Model 420 and Model 425 Flame Photometers:
M851 Air Compressor 115V - 85101000 M851 Air Compressor 230V - 85101001 | M855 Air Compressor 115V - 85501000 M855 Air Compressor 230V - 85501001 |
Fuel Gas Regulators:
We supply primary fuel gas regulators to fit gas cylinders if required which provide a controlled pressure of gas to the Flame Photometer (preferably between 1 to 2 Bar). The gas supply from the primary regulator is supplied to the secondary regulator fitted as standard to all Sherwood Flame Photometers. The secondary regulator is factory set to supply the required internal pressure for operation of the instrument. To use Natural gas with any Model 410 Flame Photometer the Natural gas regulator kit has to be purchased and fitted to the instrument. To operate a Model 360 Flame Photometer with Natural gas you must order the appropriate Model 360 (360 00 009). Natural gas cannot be used with our Dual Channel Model 420 or Model 425 Flame Photometers.

The Model 805 Continuous Flow Diluter
- Dual Rotor for reproducible ratios
- Positive Pumping for accurate measurements
- Uptake from original sample vessel
- Fibrin clot remover
- Excellent overall system performance
The Model 805 Diluter is compatible with all models of Sherwood Scientifics' Flame Photometers. It features two pump mechanisms, one for sample and one for diluent, which are permanently linked to ensure reproducible dilution ratios. Designed for the 200:1 ratio used for diluting Na and K solutions from clinical samples, it can also be used for a 50:1 ratio for clinical Lithium samples. When used with Models 420 or 425 Flame Photometers the Diluter can add automatically Lithium Internal Reference material at the optimal concentration.
The Model 860 Autosampler
- 40 sample capacity
- Separate positions for Blank and Calibrant
- Designed for use with all Sherwood Flame Photometers* (except the Model 360)
- Works with or without Sherwood Model 805 Diluter
- Works with 410 and 420 Software Packages
The Models 420 and 425 Flame Photometers were designed to interface bi-directionally with the Model 860 Autosampler, control sits in the Flame Photometer. They also work via 420 with the M860 Autosampler
* The Model 410 Flame Photometers require a Digital Interface and 410 Software to run with the M860 Autosampler.
420 software (42066000)
(Supplied free of charge with all new M420 and M425 Flame Photometer)
Everything is visible on one operational page.
With the 420 software package you can:
- Use real names and sample numbers in your reports
- Perform Multipoint calibrations with curve fit
- Monitor all three (M420) or all four (M425) detector outputs simultaneously
- Select Lithium or Potassium as the internal reference material
- Save calibration curves
- Save methods
- Archive results
- Prepare and print professional reports
- Use Automatic Peak Selection facility to assess stability of readings
- Automate analyses with addition of the Model 860 Autosampler
Regulated BlueNotes 420 Software
Product Reference: 42066100
Regulated BlueNotes 420 Software is designed to provide features that enable users to operate in a manner compliant with data handling standards such as 21 CFR Part 11. The software expands functionality of the Model 420Cs Flame Photometer; allowing data collection from all three element detector channels simultaneously in one sample sequence.
There is also the option to configure the software to use Potassium as an internal reference channel in addition to the Caesium (default) or Lithium channels.
Regulated features include:
- A three tier login system with different levels of access. (Operator, Supervisor and Administrator)
- Unique user names and passwords for every user.
- Audit trails record all operations with detailed information concerning the user and the software version, Windows version and PC name to ensure traceability and accountability.
- Robust data file system which is tamper evident and inaccessible to users without elevated Windows privileges.
- Tamper evident data format used for analysis result, system configuration and method files to ensure data integrity.
- Auto generated PDF analysis reports provide a comprehensive summary of all information relevant to an analysis run in one clear and concise document.
Serial Printer
For those who require a simple printed record of results with a time and date stamp, we have a serial printer which can connect via RS232 to the Digital Dnterface in a Model 410 Flame Photometer or to the RS232 port on the rear panel of the Dual Channel Model 420 or 425 Flame Photometer. |
